Dhaka, March 20 -- Around 15,000 police personnel have been deployed across Dhaka to prevent theft, robbery and snatching as the capital remains largely deserted during the Eid holidays.
Police said crime-prone areas have been identified and additional forces stationed based on risk assessment. Special drives will be carried out to bring listed offenders under the law, while night patrols have been intensified to ensure security.
Commercial hubs, particularly Motijheel and Dilkusha, are also witnessing minimal activity, reflecting a caiptal-wide holiday mood.
According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), more than one crore people have left the city, raising concerns over potential criminal activities in the nearly empty city.
