Bangladesh, July 25 -- The government is set to replace the 147-year-old The Touts Act, 1879 with a new law aimed at tackling the growing activities of touts not only in courts but also across government offices through a comprehensive regulatory framework.

Advertisement The proposed Touts Control Act, 2026 has been drafted to repeal the colonial-era The Touts Act, 1879 (Act No. XVIII of 1879) and re-enact it with provisions suited to present-day realities, according to a draft comparative statement prepared by the authorities, said a senior official at the home ministry.
