Dhaka, April 2 -- The retail price of the widely-used 12-kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder has been increased by Tk 387 in a single adjustment, marking a sharp rise in energy costs for consumers.
The new price has been set at Tk 1,728 for April.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the changes today (Thursday). The revised rates will take effect from 6 pm.
The commission also raised the pump price of auto-gas, LPG used in vehicles, by Tk 17.94 per litre to Tk 79.77 from Tk 61.83 last month.
Earlier in February, the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder was set at Tk 1,356. Following a reduction in import duty, the price was adjusted on February 24, lowering it by Tk 15 to Tk 1,341.
