Dhaka, March 12 -- The death toll from a head-on collision between a Navy bus and a microbus in Bagerhat's Rampal has risen to 12, according to police and hospital authorities.

The accident occurred around 4pm on Thursday near the Belai Bridge on the Khulna-Mongla Highway, said Md Jafar Ahmed, chief of Katakhali Highway Police, bdnews24.com reports.

According to the officer, the Navy bus was heading from Mongla while the microbus was traveling from Khulna when the two vehicles collided.

"Four microbus passengers, including three women, died on the spot. Locals rescued the others and rushed them to hospitals," Jafar said.
