New Delhi, July 2 -- At least one patient dies each day at the Rwampara treatment center in Ituri province, where the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola has concentrated its worst effects since the outbreak was declared a public health emergency in May. The deaths follow a disorienting pattern. Unlike the Ebola strains more familiar to international outbreak responders, this one moves through the body quietly, said John Katabuka, head of the Bunia General Hospital's treatment unit - suppressing obvious symptoms until the virus has reached the point where intervention no longer changes the outcome.
