New Delhi, July 29 -- SAN FRANCISCO - Visa confirmed on Monday that it is eliminating approximately 2,600 positions globally, roughly 7 percent of its total workforce, in a restructuring the company described as an efficiency initiative driven by the adoption of artificial intelligence tools across its operations.

The announcement places Visa alongside a wave of technology and financial services companies that have attributed workforce reductions to AI adoption in 2026, including Oracle, which disclosed the elimination of 21,000 positions and named its own AI infrastructure as the explicit cause, and Microsoft's gaming division, which cut nearly 4,800 jobs in July.
