New Delhi, July 5 -- In the Zaporizhzhia and southern Donetsk directions, Russia's Vostok battlegroup inflicted more than 470 casualties on Ukrainian forces in a single day, the Russian Defense Ministry said Sunday.

four airborne assault brigades, one airmobile brigade, one assault brigade, three assault regiments, and two territorial defense brigades were targeted in the period covered by the report. The Vostok group operates along the southern axis where Russian and Ukrainian forces have been in sustained contact through most of 2025 and into 2026.
