Russian Envoy Says NATO Opposes Cooperation With CSTO
MOSCOW, Aug. 5 -- Russia's permanent envoy to the Collective Security Treaty Organization declared on Wednesday that NATO has permanently closed the door on cooperation with the Russian-led military alliance on collective security, framing the refusal as grounds for building an entirely new security order in Eurasia rather than continuing to seek engagement with the Western bloc.
Viktor Vasilyev, who represents Russia at the CSTO, told RIA Novosti that the Atlantic alliance "has not wanted and does not want" to cooperate and that there was no point in "banging on closed doors."
