EU Fines Google €890 Million for Rigged Search Results and Play Store Steering Under DMA
New Delhi, July 23 -- €460 million for manipulating its search results to favor its own products, and €430 million for blocking app developers from steering Android users toward cheaper alternatives elsewhere.
The search finding is the more visible of the two. When European users search for hotels, flights, restaurants, or sports results, Google's own products, including Maps, Hotels, Google Flights, and Shopping, appear at the top with enhanced visuals, star ratings, and direct booking interfaces that third-party competitors cannot access on equivalent terms.
