New Delhi, July 20 -- MANILA - A Filipino military serviceman was struck on the head with a wooden baton by Chinese Coast Guard personnel near the BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoal in the West Philippine Sea on Sunday morning, the Philippines' National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea announced, calling the act "violent and unlawful."
15 a.m. local time, Anadolu Agency reported. Chinese Coast Guard vessel 21560 was identified as the source of the personnel involved. The serviceman sustained a head wound, though no further details on his medical condition were provided in the initial NTF-WPS statement.
