Tanzania, Sept. 3 -- Washington. US President Donald Trump has become the first living US president in about a century to appear on a circulating US coin, after the United States Mint released a new $1 coin bearing his portrait.

The coin entered circulation on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. The Mint also began selling the coins to collectors in rolls and bags.

Trump's portrait appears on the front of the coin alongside the inscriptions "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "1776 ~ 2026". The reverse features the Presidential Seal, including an eagle holding an olive branch and arrows, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR".
