Tanzania, Sept. 15 -- The growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on jobs, learning and research will be among the major questions confronting African universities when higher education leaders meet in Dar es Salaam this week.

The debate comes as universities face growing pressure to ensure that graduates are equipped for a labour market being reshaped by technology, while research institutions are expected to produce solutions to Africa's development challenges.

The issues will feature prominently at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Alliance for African Partnership (AAP), which will be hosted by the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and Michigan State University from September 16 to 22.
