Stakeholders propose wetland conservation measures
Tanzania, July 8 -- Morogoro. Environmental stakeholders have identified four priority measures to halt the degradation of Tanzania's wetlands, warning that stronger action is needed to protect ecosystems facing growing pressure despite ongoing conservation efforts. They say meaningful community participation, alternative livelihood opportunities, stricter enforcement of environmental laws and closer coordination among government institutions are critical to safeguarding wetlands that support biodiversity, food production and water security.
