Tanzania, Aug. 25 -- Dar es Salaam. Tanzania's Vice President, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has announced his decision to resign from office and retire from politics and public service, effective September 4, 2026, drawing renewed attention to several controversial remarks he made during his tenure.
Dr Nchimbi announced on Tuesday, August 25, through his Instagram account, which had not been active since March 8, 2023.
He said he had written to President Samia Suluhu Hassan informing her of his decision, citing Article 50(2)(c), read together with Article 149(2) of the Constitution.
