Tanzania, May 5 -- Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan, on May 5, 2026, held talks with former Ivory Coast international and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba at State House in Chamwino, Dodoma.

During the meeting, President Hassan asked the football legend to serve as Tanzania's ambassador ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) 2027.

She also directed the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports to work with Drogba in sharing expertise on the development and management of sports academies in the country.
