Bangladesh, July 25 -- The United States has imposed a fresh 10 percent tariff on imports from Bangladesh under a new trade enforcement measure targeting countries deemed to have insufficient safeguards against goods produced with forced labor.

The tariff took effect on July 24 following a decision by the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), replacing the temporary 10 percent duty that expired a day earlier. Although introduced under a different legal framework, the new measure keeps the overall tariff on Bangladeshi garment exports to the US unchanged at 25.62 percent.
