Dhaka, April 29 -- Irregular Bangladeshi workers in Romania have been given a fresh opportunity to regularize their status under a newly introduced government amnesty scheme.
The provision was introduced through Emergency Ordinance No. 32, issued on April 23 and published in the official gazette on April 27, 2026. Under the amnesty program, foreign workers from non-EU countries who have fallen into irregular status may apply for legalization, subject to certain conditions.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Bucharest has welcomed the initiative, saying it could benefit many Bangladeshis who became undocumented due to circumstances beyond their control despite entering the country legally.
