Bangladesh, July 6 -- Dubai International Airport (DXB) has headed into its summer peak, with around 3 million passengers expected through its terminals in the first half of July, according to Dubai Airports, the owner and operator of the airport.

The surge began on July 2 as residents started heading off for the holidays. The busiest day is expected to be July 12, when daily traveler numbers are projected to exceed 225,000, in a fortnight where traffic regularly tops 200,000.

Transfer traffic is expected to account for around 50% of total passengers, reflecting Dubai's position as one of the world's most connected global hubs.
