Cathay Group reports record first-half profit
Bangladesh, Aug. 6 -- The aviation group posted an attributable profit of HKD 6.2 billion for the January-June period, up from HKD 3.7 billion in the corresponding period last year. The results included a one-off gain of around HKD 1 billion, primarily linked to a change in its shareholding in Air China.
Buoyed by the performance, the company announced an interim dividend of HK26 cents per share, representing a 30 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Cathay Group Chair Guy Bradley said the group carried more passengers and cargo while operating more flights than a year earlier, despite facing rising fuel costs during the second quarter due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
