Bangladesh, Hong Kong sign investment protection deal to boost FDI prospects
Bangladesh, Sept. 9 -- Bangladesh and Hong Kong have signed an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (IPPA) aimed at promoting bilateral investment and strengthening protection for investors and their capital.
The agreement was signed today at the opening session of the 11th Belt and Road Summit 2026 in Hong Kong, read a commerce ministry press release.
Bangladesh's Minister for Industries, Commerce, and Textiles and Jute Khandaker Abdul Muktadir signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh, while Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau signed on behalf of the Hong Kong government.
