India, April 9 -- Celebrations were reported in several parts of Kashmir after the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, with many residents describing the development as a moment of relief and, in some areas, a symbolic victory for Iran.
Gatherings were reported from a number of places, particularly Shia-majority localities. In Srinagar, people assembled in Saidakadal and Zadibal, while similar scenes were witnessed in parts of Budgam, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Bandipora districts.
Participants were seen waving Iranian flags, bursting firecrackers and distributing traditional kehwa and sweets. Residents said the ceasefire brought relief after weeks of tension in West Asia.
