New Delhi, May 27 -- Bengaluru-based Insurtech firm BimaKavach appointed Pradeep Siddharthan as Chief Technology & Product Officer (CTPO), as the business-focused insurtech steps up investments in artificial intelligence-led underwriting and risk intelligence capabilities for enterprises.

The appointment comes as the company looks to strengthen its technology backbone and build AI-enabled infrastructure aimed at simplifying commercial insurance for Indian MSMEs and emerging enterprises.

In his new role, Siddharthan will lead product strategy and engineering, with a mandate to build what the company describes as an "intelligence layer" for commercial insurance underwriting. He will oversee the company's technology roadmap and use AI and data capabilities to accelerate risk assessment and improve contextual decision-making around business coverage.

The move signals a broader shift across insurance and fintech firms toward embedding AI deeper into core operations rather than limiting its use to customer service or workflow automation. Insurers are increasingly deploying AI for underwriting, fraud detection and predictive risk modelling as they seek efficiency gains and more precise pricing.

Siddharthan brings over 16 years of experience spanning product, technology and business leadership roles. He has previously worked across consumer internet and startup ecosystems, holding leadership positions at companies including Myntra, Curefit and A23, where he worked on scalable systems and customer-facing platforms across areas such as marketplaces, payments and supply chains.

"Business insurance in India is at an inflection point," said founder and chief executive Tejas Jain. "The companies that will define the next decade are the ones building intelligence into the product, not just the process."

Jain said the company intends to simplify underwriting and coverage decisions for businesses while accelerating product development around emerging risk categories.

Commenting on his appointment, Siddharthan said AI and data could make insurance more proactive and relevant for businesses by helping firms better understand evolving risks and make informed coverage decisions.

Founded in 2021, BimaKavach is an IRDAI-registered direct broker offering digital commercial insurance products. The company says it serves more than 5,000 businesses across property, liability, health and marine categories, and has facilitated over 20,000 policies through partnerships with more than 25 insurers. It has raised $3 million from investors including Waterbridge, Eximius, Arali and Blume Ventures.
