Srilanka, Oct. 18 -- A functionary of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has been arrested in India following the seizure of 100 kilograms of methamphetamine (Ice) allegedly intended to be smuggled into Sri Lanka.

India's Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Tiruchy zone, arrested N. Boopalan, 42, a lawyer and member of the TVK Nagapattinam district executive committee, along with three others during raids in Nagapattinam district on Friday.

The drugs were allegedly part of a trafficking operation involving the transportation of narcotics from Chennai for storage and distribution across Tamil Nadu. Investigators suspect that a portion of the consignment was intended for smuggling into Sri Lank...
