Sri Lanka, March 1 -- The Foreign Affairs Ministry yesterday said that no Sri Lankan citizens living in Iran have been reported harmed following yesterday's Israeli-US military strikes on Iran.

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Arun Hemachandra said the Ministry is maintaining close contact with officials at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Tehran to monitor the situation. "We expect further updates from them," he added.

Ministry sources said that only around 30 Sri Lankans reside in Iran. No deaths or injuries among these citizens have been reported. Similarly, there have been no reports from Israel of Sri Lankans being affected by the ongoing tensions in the region. There are around 30,000 Sri Lankans in Israel.
