Sri Lanka seeks greater role in ASEAN peace and security framework
Srilanka, June 21 -- Sri Lanka has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regional peace and security cooperation by presenting a series of new initiatives at the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Senior Officials' Meeting held in Manila, Philippines last week.
The move marks a renewed effort by Sri Lanka to deepen engagement with the ASEAN-led regional security architecture while positioning itself as a constructive and neutral partner amid growing geopolitical competition in the Indo-Pacific region.
A delegation led by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism M. R. K. Lenagala, participated in the meeting, where Sri Lanka outlined its future priorities within the ARF framework.
