SJB MP's remarks on CJ expunged from Hansard
SriLanka, Sept. 13 -- A portion of remarks made by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Amila Prasad Siriwardana in Parliament on Thursday (10) will be expunged from the Hansard after they were deemed to have targeted Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.
Deputy Chairperson of Committees Hemali Weerasekara, who was presiding over the House at the time, instructed the relevant Parliamentary authorities to remove the remarks from the official Parliamentary record.
Addressing the House, MP Siriwardana said the proposed 22nd Amendment to the Constitution was an attempt by the Government to retain the Chief Justice in office by force to obtain political advantages.
