Sri Lanka, May 31 -- Former Secretary to the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, Kapila Perera, has rejected claims that his resignation was linked to a recent Supreme Court judgment, saying that the decision was made for personal and professional reasons. Perera said none of the recent developments or Court rulings had influenced his decision to step down from the post. He said that he is a Professor at the University of Moratuwa and is currently 64 years old.

As he is in the final year of his University service, he has to return to his academic duties.

Perera said that he had been seeking to leave the position for several months and had informed Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and President Anura Kumara Dissanaya...
