Probe into 60 Chinese nationals' visa approvals
SriLanka, Aug. 2 -- The Government has initiated an investigation into the sudden release of passports belonging to 60 Chinese nationals after the Department of Immigration and Emigration took them into custody over suspected visa irregularities.
According to information received, the individuals had entered Sri Lanka on one-month business visas. However, after concerns were raised regarding the validity and circumstances surrounding the issuance of the visas, the Investigation Division of the Department of Immigration and Emigration had taken custody of their passports for further examination.
