Srilanka, July 26 -- Independence of the Judiciary does not take away the right of Parliament to make policies on the Judiciary, National People's Power (NPP) Parliamentarian Lakmali Hemachandra told Parliament on Friday.

MP Hemachandra told Parliament during the debate on the No-Confidence Motion filed by the opposition against the Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara that policymaking power on the Judiciary is vested with Parliament, under the sovereign power of the people.
