Over 50,000 Dengue cases
Srilanka, June 28 -- The number of Dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka this year has surpassed 50,000, according to Community Physician Dr. Prashila Samaraweera of the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU), with the health authorities adding that the situation has reached the epidemic level.
She said that 50,459 Dengue cases and 30 deaths have been reported so far this year.
Dr. Samaraweera said that these figures could increase further as mosquito density remains high across the country.
She said that regular cleaning of homes and the surrounding areas is essential to check mosquito breeding places and control the spread of Dengue.
