Sri Lanka, Aug. 17 -- A 32-year-old man died and 22 passengers were injured when a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus collided head-on with a private bus in Weliyaya yesterday morning. The bus driver died in the accident, police said.
The bus veered off the road after the collision and crashed into a cluster of plantain trees by the roadside. The bus was travelling from Thabana to Moneragala.
The private bus was carrying passengers on a trip from Hambantota to Okanda Devalaya (Okanda Murugan Kovil) near the Kumana Panama jungle, according to Moneragala Police Headquarters Inspector P.H.C. Sanjeewa.
The accident occurred at around 6.10 a.m, he said.
