Srilanka, Feb. 15 -- Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva will arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (16) for high-level discussions with the Government on the upcoming disbursements under the US$ 2.9 billion IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
This will be her first visit to the island nation since Sri Lanka entered the EFF in March 2023. The IMF bailout supported Sri Lanka's economic recovery after the country declared its first-ever Sovereign Default in April 2022. Finance Ministry sources said the talks are expected to focus on combining the sixth and seventh tranches of the EFF, which were delayed following the disruptions caused by Cyclone Ditwah in November last year.
