Recommendations to be made within three months
In line with WIPO standards
Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe has pledged to appoint a committee to recommend changes to Sri Lanka's Intellectual Property Act within three months.
The minister gave this assurance during a meeting last week at the Trade Ministry with the Authors, Composers and Publishers Organisation of Sri Lanka (ACPOSL), which pressed for reforms to bring the law in line with World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) standards. ACPOSL chairman Nilar N. Cassim said successive Governments had failed to act.
