Exporters seek stronger US trade ties after tariff relief
Srilanka, July 26 -- Sri Lankan exporters welcomed the decision by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) on Friday (24) to reduce the proposed additional tariff on imports from Sri Lanka to 10% from the previously proposed 12.5%.
They said the authorities must remain vigilant in addressing rising uncertainties in global trade through prudent bilateral relationships.
"This tariff relief is a major relief for Sri Lankan exporters, particularly the apparel sector, which relies heavily on the US market," Secretary General of the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), Yohan Lawrence told Sunday Observer Business.
