Defence evidence to begin for 24 accused
Srilanka, Aug. 16 -- The Colombo Permanent High Court Trial-at-Bar will begin hearing defence evidence in the Easter Sunday attacks case tomorrow (17).
The prosecution's evidence in the case against 24 defendants, including Naufer Maulavi, over the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks concluded on Thursday (13) before a three-member bench, comprising Judges Navaratne Marasinghe (Presiding Judge), Sujeewa Nissanka and Ramanathan Kannan.
The Attorney General has filed over 23,000 charges, including the main charge of conspiring the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, against the defendants.
Concluding the hearing of prosecution witnesses, the bench said that the prosecution has presented a very solid case before the Court.
