SriLanka, Feb. 22 -- Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva has highlighted Sri Lanka's potential to raise its economic growth rate to 7-8 percent, citing the trust the Government has earned from the public, Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando said yesterday.
Georgieva led an IMF delegation that met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasurya, and senior officials of the Finance Ministry and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka during her visit from February 16 to 18.
The IMF Chief also travelled to Mawathura and several other areas affected by Cyclone Ditwah, observing first-hand the damage and the effectiveness of relief and recovery efforts.
