SriLanka, March 22 -- The country's agriculture sector is expected to remain insulated from immediate geopolitical shocks following the closure of the Hormuz Strait, Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation Ministry officials said yesterday.

Fertiliser stocks, preemptive imports, and robust paddy reserves are helping safeguard supplies and stabilise prices amid rising concerns over Middle East tensions, they said.

National Fertiliser Secretariat (NFS) Director Chandana Lokuhewage said that the Government had preemptively imported additional urea stocks months ago, at the onset of hostilities between Iran and Israel, helping to safeguard supplies and stabilise fertiliser prices.
