The recent Budget presented by CM Siddaramaiah contains several encouraging proposals for the development of Mysuru. The plan to develop Mysuru as a second IT hub to decongest Bengaluru, along with initiatives aimed at industrialising Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and strengthening welfare and public healthcare programmes, will certainly benefit the region.
However, one important issue concerning the people of Mysuru appears to have been overlooked by not recommending the proposal to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The existing Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in city has not yet been upgraded into a full-fledged Passport Seva Kendra with Tatkal facilities.
