Mysuru, Sept. 21 -- Keralam truck seized by MCC for dumping medical waste in Bannimantap; Fined Rs. 50,000

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has stepped up enforcement against illegal garbage dumping by deploying round-the-clock surveillance teams at major Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) across the city.

During one such night watch, MCC personnel caught a Keralam-registered truck yesterday allegedly attempting to dump medical waste at Bannimantap.

The vehicle was seized and a penalty of Rs. 50,000 was imposed.

MCC night watchers intercepted the vehicle while it was attempting to dispose of medical waste brought from Keralam. When questioned, the truck driver initially claimed that he had stopped the vehicle only to rest and sleep.
