India, June 9 -- Mysuru - A host of cultural programmes marked the city's Kempu Cheluvajammanni (K.C.) Nagar Residents Welfare Association's Silver Jubilee celebrations at the locality, foot of Chamundi Hill here, on June 7.

MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar inaugurated the celebrations by lighting a lamp. He also watered a plant as part of World Environment Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Yaduveer said that the life of Yuvarani Kempu Cheluvajammanni (K.C.) is a model for spiritual life.

Stating that the erstwhile Mysore ruler Jayachamaraja Wadiyar was greatly inspired by the life of K.C. for writing his book 'Dattatreya,' the MP said K.C. is remembered even today as Yuvarani.
