Mysuru, Sept. 30 -- In the wake of the rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl from a nomadic community in Mysuru during Dasara last year, the City Police have stepped up vigilance over families who arrive in the city to sell balloons and toys during the festival.
The girl had come to Mysuru with her parents to sell balloons during the 2025 Dasara. She was sexually assaulted and murdered on the night of Oct. 8, 2025, at Doddakere Maidan near the Dasara Exhibition Grounds. The incident shocked Mysuru and drew widespread condemnation.
