India, June 6 -- Madikeri, June 6 - The investigation into the stabbing of an undertrial prisoner at Madikeri Central Jail has intensified, with senior prison officials conducting a detailed inspection of the facility yesterday.

Director General of Police (Prisons and Correctional Services) Alok Kumar and IGP (Southern Zone Prisons) Divyashree visited the jail and reviewed security arrangements, barrack management and operational procedures following the incident.

They questioned jail staff and undertrial prisoners housed in various barracks to gather information on the circumstances leading to the assault.
