Corporal Dassanayake DMDM of the Sri Lanka Air Force, who represented Sri Lanka at the 13th World Strength Lifting Championship 2026, held in Kyrgyzstan from 07 to 11 September 2026, returned to the Island on 15 September 2026 and was accorded a warm welcome upon his arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.
Competing in the Hack Lift event in the Under 95 kg weight category, Corporal Dassanayake delivered an outstanding performance by lifting 260 kg, thereby setting a new World Record in the event.
