Hanoi, July 2 -- According to the WB's annual country classification released on July 1, Viet Nam's GNI per capita increased from US$4,490 in 2024 to US$4,970 in 2025, lifting the country from the lower-middle-income to the upper-middle-income category.

The bank attributed Viet Nam's reclassification to its strong economic growth and export performance. During 2024-2025, exports expanded by more than 15 percent, while GDP grew by 7 percent in 2024 and 8 percent in 2025.

Over the 2021-2025 period, Viet Nam's GNI grew at an average annual rate of 10 percent, which the WB experts described as "one of the strongest sustained growth rates in the region."
