Hanoi, May 30 -- Scheduled for May 31-June 1, the visit will be the first by a General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam to the Philippines, bringing together the highest leaders of the two countries for the first time in this capacity, told the diplomat.

The visit also coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, providing an opportunity to review achievements over the past five decades and define priorities for future cooperation.

According to the Ambassador, discussions during the visit will cover all major areas of bilateral relations, including trade, culture, security, ASEAN cooperation, and coordination in multilateral forums such as the United Nations.
