Hanoi, June 27 -- In a bid to build a carbon market, the Government of Viet Nam approved pilot greenhouse gas emission quotas for key industrial sector in 2025 and 2026. This move aims to tighten limits on some of Viet Nam's biggest emitters.

Under this pilot policy, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has allocated greenhouse gas emission quotas to 110 facilities.

The ministry has also issued a circular regulating the management and operation of the national registry system for greenhouse gas emission qoutas and carbon credits, providing the foundation for managing and trading commodities on the carbon exchange.
