Reimagining India-Canada Relations: Towards a Mutually Beneficial Relationship for Wider Public Good
New Delhi, Oct. 9 -- From a historical perspective, the impact of Komagata Maru (1914) and the Ghadar Movement (1913) were seminal events as those major landmark markers fuelled intense anti-British sentiments among the Indian diasporas and its sympathizers in Canada and which culminated in India achieving independence from the British colonial rule in 1947. India and Canada established diplomatic relations the same year itself. Both countries have adopted federal structure in their constitutional framework as its main corner pieces. Both India and Canada are members of several multilateral bodies including G-20, Commonwealth of Nations, UN, and other bodies.
