Years later, why is an ex-Indian Navy officer still in Qatar?
Doha, Sept. 19 -- Former Indian Navy Commander Purnendu Tiwary, a 67-year-old veteran who was among eight Indian Navy personnel detained in Qatar in 2022, remains in the country more than two years after seven of the men returned to India, and is now in prison following a separate case.
His 88-year-old mother, Pramodini Tiwary, renewed her appeal for his return in a written interview with LiveMint, saying the family had repeatedly been assured that certain formalities needed to be completed before her son could come home.
