Who will conduct polls: SC refuses to suspend CEC Gyanesh Kumar
New Delhi, Oct. 5 -- The Supreme Court on Monday, October 5, issued notice to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the other two Election Commissioners (ECs) on a plea alleging that major decisions were taken in the poll body's name without the consent of the full Commission, and sought their responses within a week.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, said it must hear the respondents before passing any order and refused to issue interim directions at this stage.
