Telangana HC fines education department Rs 25,000
Hyderabad, Oct. 10 -- The Telangana High Court on Friday, October 9, told the state education department that fines on officials mean little unless they come out of someone's own pocket, as it imposed Rs 25,000 on the department for taking 250 days to file an appeal.
According to The Times of India, a division bench of acting Chief Justice P Sam Koshy and Justice Nandikonda Narsing Rao said that unless the amount is recovered from somebody's salary, the officials concerned "will not feel the pain" and will not be more alert next time.
The bench directed the principal secretary of the education department to inquire into the reasons for the delay and, if necessary, recover the fine from the officials responsible.
